我的英语教学演讲稿
今天结束了市里的英语教学演讲比赛，准备一场比赛花了不少时间与精力，不过也是对自己的一次的锻炼。
NO Short Cuts But Good Methods
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Good morning! It’s my honor to have a chance to make a lecture.My title is “No short cuts but good methods”. In the modern world, English----as a worldwide language, is widely used everywhere, so it is very important to learn English well. English is one of the most important subjects in students’ studies. But many students feel it difficult to improve their English.
So many teachers and students are thinking about methods of learning English. They believe and hope there are some short cuts. In my opinion, when we do everything, there are no short cuts . If I want to say “There is”, it is hard-working. But I think we can find some good learning methods to help us in some aspects.
Here are some tips for students’ English learning based on my personal learning and teaching experience.
Firstly, Read as much as you can, no matter paper-made books or e-books. We learn basic English from readings. It really helps a lot. And the original edition is better. English exists in our daily life. We should pay attention to it. That is to say, we should cultivate our English Thinking. You should learn to notice the words you see and respond in English. Slogans, banners, product instructions, and many more in English. The more English material that you have around you, the faster you will learn and the more likely it is that you will begin “thinking in English.” .
Secondly, Dictionary is the best dumb teacher! It is a tool, but many people don’t know how to use it. That’s why I said just now it may not be a good teacher. Many people just recite the word and neglect the sentence. You can’t remember clearly. I think we should learn English sentence by sentence. English is just like our Chinese too, every word has different means in different sentences, that is to say, the context is very important .May be you can even just use the sentence pattern in the dictionary to make a sentence. That’s innovation and not creation. It’s a way to enlarge your vocabulary effectively. Also I think an English-English dictionary is better because it can train your English Thinking. A good dictionary can also tell you which word is formally used as well as which is orally used. And that’s also important.
Thirdly, Listen to English songs and videos, and watch English movies. They are the pure English. Also this is the most funny way! As we all know listening is very important. Just like a newly-born baby, when he don’t know how to speak , he just listen. At last, it helps him to speak. That is a fact. You can choose some radios to listen such as CRI, VOA and BBC. Also you can listen on the Internet.
Another aspect I want to say is that the pronunciation is very important. But many people may neglect this part. English is used for communication. If you can’t pronounce well, you may be misunderstood by others and that even may lead to some problems. So you should listen and imitate the standard English and should not speak in your own way. Because you don’t have the ability to create a new way of speaking. So just follow the standard.
What’s more, the background knowledge and the history as well as the culture of English speaking countries can contribute to your understanding in English.
In a word, We should keep a balance between input and output. Input means listen and read and output means speak and write. But many people can’t strike a balance. That is a problem. Maybe it is a teaching problem. At least it’s true in my hometown, Wuxue..
So Love English, NOT for money or benefit. Never! The attitude is very important . The thought that the destination of learning English is passing all kinds of tests is quite wrong. Now the world is becoming more and more globalized. English should be used to communicate with others and make them understand what you mean. Language is an art and kind of culture and interest is the best teacher of all!
Last but not least, practice makes perfect. Every learner knows this simple idiom. Even you know the effective learning ways .No matter how good method it is, it’s impossible for everyone to accept it. You should choose the best for yourself and also should work hard. Many people may complain that they work hard but they do not see their progress. It’s a truth. It’s a kind of feeling. But I want to say: Please hold on! Never give up your dream of becoming a good English master. Learning English is as if “the Foolish Old Man, who removed the mountains”. Make progress day by day, and one day you will surprisingly find you speak fluent English! You make it! Congratulations then!
